Why did we choose Chemnitz as our location?

The German city of Chemnitz, located in Saxony, and its surrounding region have a rich textile history.
Recognized as a hub for factories and trade, Chemnitz was designated the “Saxon Manchester” during the 19th century, marking its status as one of Germany's most significant industrial cities.
Furthermore, with Chemnitz being named the European Capital of Culture for 2025, it exemplifies a unique blend of cultural heritage and forward-looking innovation, making it an ideal setting for our projects.
Cotton weaving and printing factories were already the most important pillars in the 18th century, with their textiles being traded worldwide. Chemnitz then reached a new level of industrial achievement with spinning mills modeled after the English design, becoming the first factories of their kind in Saxony.
This long tradition of textile development, production, and processing continues to this day, employing an estimated 14,000 people across approximately 250 textile companies.
Renowned international companies have their fabrics woven here or their clothing designed and processed. Consequently, it's no surprise that prestigious research and development institutions in the textile industry have established their headquarters here, such as the 'Fraunhofer Research Center for Systems and Technologies for Textile Structures' (STEX), the 'Saxon Textile Research Institute' (STFI), and 'Cetex Chemnitzer Textilmaschinenentwicklung GmbH'.
